blip.tv is a free videoblogging, podcasting and video sharing service
If you don’t have a blog we’ll give you one, and if you have one already we’ll make it a show. There’s a tour available to walk you through some of our unique features.
We’ve got a great service for great shows. We believe that the world is fundamentally changing as it becomes easier and easier for individuals and small groups of people to create their own video. Our mission is to make this even easier by taking care of all the problems a budding videoblogger, podcaster or Internet TV producer would run into. We’ll take care of the servers, the software, the workflow, the advertising and the distribution. Your focus should be on creativity.
Here’s what we do:
Free Hosting - You shouldn’t have to be afraid of success. At blip.tv we’ve got all the servers and bandwidth you could possibly need. And we’re giving it to you for free because you’re going to need it.
Advertising - You deserve to make money from your hard work. That’s why blip.tv has built an open advertising marketplace where you can pick the video advertising company that works best for you. If you’ve got a hit show we’ll even go out and meet with media buyers directly to get you a real, honest-to-goodness high-end sponsorship. We share everything 50/50.
Multiple Formats - You shouldn’t have to choose between great quality Flash video and compatibility with iTunes. Your videos should work everywhere, no question. That’s why blip.tv supports every video format under the sun, from Flash 8 (much higher quality than most Flash video) to Quicktime (for the all-important iTunes) to DivX and 3gp (we think cell phones are cool, too).
Great Promotion - We’ll make your show available on blip.tv, and maybe even promote it on our homepage. Then we give you the tools you need to send it to your own blog, to MySpace, to del.icio.us, Yahoo! Video and iTunes. If you’ve got a great show we’ll even use our muscle to get it promoted in the QuickTime Player and lots of other places.
Fair Terms - We believe that you should own the product of your hard work. When you upload to blip.tv you give us the right to distribute your video until and unless you delete it from our systems. You don’t have to give us any kind of exclusive rights, and we won’t sell your work or advertising on your work without your express, specific permission.
We’ve got an in to TV - We’re sending our top shows directly to the television set with Internet video on demand. And that’s just the start. We believe that your show should be indistinguishable from a show on a broadcast network in terms of how people find and watch it. We’re working hard to make this happen.
Fanatical Support - Show creators matter. As consumers of media, we’ve seen what happens when business interests tread on creativity and passion. We’ve taken those lessons to heart and strive to foster an environment where creativity flourishes unabated.
