Specialists in finding similarities between documents and the detection and prevention of collusion and plagiarism
CopyCatch Investigator offers a way of using entire documents as a search item in an index of potetially related documents. Any organisation with large quantities of related documents will benefit from being able to search without keywords or being limited to short phrases. Unlike CopyCatch Gold, which requires similar content and length to make effective comparisons, Investigator can compare documents of any length and tangentialy related subject matter.
It is of particular interest to the legal profession and law enforcement agencies, as it offers a way for all the documents in a case to be compared for sentence similarity, and new evidence to be classified for relevance. Cross case comparison is also possible. One firm of lawyers has been using it to compare documents of from 50,000 to 1 million words for similarity of content at sentence level.
CopyCatch Analyst, (formerly Vocalyse Toolkit), is a set of programs which together offer detailed numerical, statistical, phrasal and vocabulary analysis of texts. This program is of main interest to Forensic Linguistics specialists and the public and private legal sectors. The programs have been used for authorship identification, witness and suspect statement analysis and stylometry.
CiteReader is a program which can recognise properly referenced citations in a document. By extension, unacknowledged material should have the same effect in text. So the program indicates the sentences might be worth looking for on the internet or other electronic source to users who feel that some of the material in the document is unacknowledged.
The program has been found to have another use, which is in the area of stylometry. CiteReader has been used to classify samples of the work of different authors correctly, using the output from the suspect sentence identification process. This allocates different scores for sentence complexity. The patterns produced by these varying scores can offer indications of authorial habits of sentence construction and use.
Summariser is an automatic summarisation system which uses an approach designed to produce summaries of a length and content which can be varied by the user. The candidate sentences are ordered for centrality in the text and are selected by the extent of interconnectivity between those sentences and the rest of the text. Unlike many other systems, which use extensive and expensive external resources, Summariser uses only the words in the document under consideration.
CopyCatch Gold has been in use for many years in educational institutions both at department level and campus-wide and has a growing number of commercial users. It is primarily aimed at collusion detection, but can be used anywhere there is a requirement to check on the independent production of documents.
Specially written for teachers, CopyCatch Web provides web searching from the desktop building on the technology behind our long-established CopyCatch Gold. Three screens cover searching, fully cross-referenced reporting and assistance with web searching.
Developed in association with the Open University here in the UK, CopyCatch Campus provides full automation of the monitoring process, with detailed reports on norms of similarity, and delivery of fully marked pairs in HTML format. A single screen allows flexible choice of both search and reporting functions to create batch files for automated running, or simply to run a report.
MultiConcord is a Multilingual Parallel Concordancer used by translators and teachers of languages and translation since 1996. It makes use of source texts and their translations, to provide examples of how words or phrases have been translated in technical literature, novels or whatever documents are available in more than one language.
