Search Marketing Association EU Trade Association

The SMA-EU is a proposed search marketing association for continental Europeans serving the European Union and EFTA countries (other than the UK) coordinated by a new working group currently being put together by Mikkel deMib Svendsen of RedZoneGlobal Denmark with the support of members of the existing SMA-UK working group.

Volunteers for the new working group should express their interest by contacting Mikkel directly.

The new association will adopt the mission and objectives of the SMA-UK with the addition of an objective to create country or regional organisations of the SMA as dictated by the demand for membership in different regions of the EU/EFTA.

It will also adopt the one-member-one-vote style of the SMA-UK. The project is partly a response to demand shown from SEO/SEMs in continental Europe and partly registrations of interest made on the SMA-UK web site from the continent.

It will have its own constitution and elections will be held to elect the leadership of the working group and, subsequently, its Executive Committee.


Mission

"The Search Marketing Association - EU/EFTA provides a service to search engine marketing individual professionals and companies by helping to establish a favourable operating environment, by providing a forum for discussion on non-competitive issues and by providing information to assist them in their business."


Objectives

  • To be a central representative body to put the views of search engine marketing companies and professional consultants to GovernmentS, the European Commission and Parliament and other relevant organisations
  • To be a research and statistical centre, to aggregate and publish statistics, and to provide analysis on search engine marketing and other relevant market information
  • To be a technical centre, providing commentary, guidance and advice on all legal and other regulatory developments of relevance to search engine marketing
  • To provide a forum for the exchange of non-competitive information
  • To promote the search engine marketing industry
  • To assist in representing search engine marketing professionals and companies with suppliers to the industry
  • To promote best business practice guidelines for dealing with clients
  • To promote the development of education and training for search marketing professionals
  • To promote and support affiliations with other international search marketing trade organisations that have similar objectives to the SMA-EU including the SAM-UK
