Access your del.icio.us or Ma.gnolia (or Wieza) bookmarks from your mobile device
Mobilicio.us is a "mashup" that combines the del.icio.us and Ma.gnolia online bookmarking services with Google Mobile. This allows you to browse through "mobilized" versions of your bookmarks from your phone browser or other limited-display browsers. It also prevents you from having to enter long URLs into the Google Mobile search in order to "mobilize" a site. Let’s face it, entering anything using the phone keypad is a pain, especially when not using T9!
How do I use Mobilicio.us?
From your mobile browser, enter http://mobilicio.us (once there, we highly recommend bookmarking it on your phone for easy future access). Sign in using your del.icio.us or Ma.gnolia username and password. If your mobile browser supports cookies, you can select the "Remember Me" check box before signing in to make future visits to Mobilicio.us more convenient.
Once signed in, you will see your bookmarks which have been tagged with "mtag". You’ll also see "mtag" in the search filter text box. If this is your first visit, it’s more than likely you haven’t tagged any of your del.icio.us or Ma.gnolia links with mtag. You can remove mtag from the search filter and click search to see a list of all your links, but we recommend visiting your bookmarking service from a dekstop or laptop computer and tagging the links you need via your mobile with mtag. This filtering makes using Mobilicio.us faster and more convenient and doesn’t limit your normal del.icio.us or Ma.gnolia use.
What is mtag?
It’s a tag we have designated specifically for mobile/limited browsing use. As mentioned above, you need not be limited to links tagged with mtag, but Mobilicio.us uses it as a default to bring your mobile links up faster and with fewer clicks. Simply tag your bookmarks in del.icio.us, Ma.gnolia, or Wieza with "mtag" to have that link appear on your default Mobilicio.us bookmarks page. Use the tag "mtag-g" for websites which are already formated for mobile devices. We won’t run these pages through Google Mobile (-g = minus Google).
Do I need a del.icio.us account to use Mobilicio.us?
Yes, for the time being. In order to bring Mobilicio.us to market as quickly as possible, we decided to take advantage of existing functionality at del.icio.us. In the future, we will be extending Mobilicio.us to other social bookmarking sites such as furl, spurl, del.irio.us and others. Let us know which bookmarking service you use.
Update: Mobilicio.us now works with your Ma.gnolia account. The service works exactly as before, just select Magnolia from the appropriate dropdowns and user your Ma.gnolia credentials to login. For me details, see our blog post on Ma.gnolia integration.
