ISAPI_Rewrite is a powerful URL manipulation engine based on regular expressions. It acts mostly like Apache’s mod_Rewrite, but is designed specifically for Microsoft’s Internet Information Server (IIS). ISAPI_Rewrite is an ISAPI filter written in pure C/C++ so it is extremely fast. ISAPI_Rewrite gives you the freedom to go beyond the standard URL schemes and develop your own scheme.

What is ISAPI_Rewrite?

ISAPI_Rewrite is a rule-based rewriting tool to rewrite requested URLs on the fly. ISAPI_Rewrite uses regular expression rules. With regular expressions you don’t need to write a thousands check strings. The comparison and replace of URLs can be done with a few string patterns.

What you can do with ISAPI_Rewrite?

ISAPI_Rewrite is available in two different versions.

What is the difference between Lite and Full versions of ISAPI_Rewrite?

Lite and Full versions of ISAPI_Rewrite shares the same rewriting engine and source code. But Lite version doesn’t support for per-site configuration and all relative features, only global rules are processed. In addition Lite version does not include proxiing engine. The following directives is not supported in Lite version: ProxyRule, EnableRewrite, DisableRewrite, EnableConfig, DisableConfig, CacheClockRate. The following flags is not supported in Lite version: P - proxy.

 ISAPI_Rewrite Full - This is complete version of ISAPI_Rewrite. It has the following features:

• Regular expressions-based URL rewriting engine.
• Support for global per-server configuration file
• Support for per-virtual-site configuration files
• In-memory configurations cache
• Automatic deletion of rarely-used configurations from memory
• Monitoring of configuration files and metabase changes and dynamic configuration reload
