Here’s why publishers love RSS!

As publishers create new articles, they create RSS feeds to display the listing of headlines. An RSS feed is a web page that lists article headlines along with a description of each article and a link to the full article.

This text is assembled in a "programming code" format so that the computer can pick apart these components and neatly display them or organize them. Next time you see the little orange "XML" icon, click on it. You can actually see the different components in the raw data.

When you view the RSS feed using a special RSS reader program, the reader will display the headlines just like you would see a new email message in Outlook. You click on the headline, and the reader will display the description where you would normally view the email message in Outlook. If the article description interests you, you can click on the link to view the full article content.

That’s all there is too it! Yes, it’s amazingly simple. Web servers can now exchange their headlines automatically. Viewers can also now check for new content on 100s of websites all at once without having to go to each website one by one. Web surfers are absolutely love this! I was hooked the first time I tried it!

Why is RSS so important?

Well, you should know that the number of RSS users is growing exponentially, and before long it will be as commonly known as email. Since every single major site has adopted it, that is a tell-tale sign of long term adoption! Microsoft has announced that they will be including RSS functionality in their new operating system. Once this comes out, consumers will be gobbling up RSS feeds like crazy. Once consumers catch on, there will be no turning back. Every internet marketer needs to be ready for when this big wave hits.

Why don’t I just use my blog program for delivering my messages via RSS?

Great question! Blogs wonderful tools, but they have several major problems for us internet marketers:
