ClickDetective uses sophisticated tracking mechanisms to determine whether visitor behaviour is normal or abnormal. If suspicious activity is detected on any of the monitored landing pages, an email is immediately sent to the admin contact of your account. You can then decide to suspend the PPC campaign, notify the search engine, report abuse to an ISP and so on.

  • Protect the value of your Pay-Per-Click Advertising
  • Identify click-throughs by source
  • Detect and deter click abuse
  • Recognise and respond to click-through events

ClickDetective’s features and approach to click fraud are fairly standard, but there are some interesting aspects that set it apart from competitors. Perhaps most importantly, ClickDetective is a UK registered company and has offices both in the United States (in Arizona) and in Europe (the UK).

An advertiser can contact the United States office for North American coverage and the UK office for coverage for ads in Europe and elsewhere. The ability to directly work with a European office if you run international campaigns that you feel are being subjected to click fraud is a plus for companies located outside of North America or international subsidiaries of North American companies.

Another interesting aspect of ClickDetective is the ability to customize the level of the alert message that is displayed for daily repeat visitors. You can choose no message, a very innocent-sounding popup if your specified number of repeat clicks are made (the default is 3 in one day) that thanks the visitor for choosing your website and reminds them to bookmark it for future visits, all the way to a more severe warning that behavior is being monitored, and an “access denied” message. The text of the messages can also be customized to your preferences.

Your administrative account is immediately sent an email when suspicious behavior is detected so that you can make the choice as to how to respond upon learning the details. You will also be warned via email if it is anticipated that your paid-for number of clicks will not last through the month.

You can add clickthroughs to either the Standard or Corporate programs at the rate of 2,000 clicks for an additional $10 per month. These TopUp clickthroughs are carried forth to the next month if the full 2,000 are not totally used.

After a visitor has returned to a monitored page a pre-defined number of times over a given time period (default 3 times in any one day) the ClickDetective Level 1 alert is shown. All alerts are optional - you don’t need to show any visitor alerts if you choose not to. You can also choose to be notified by email when a visitor alert has been issued. It is also possible to monitor repeat clickers discretely without alerts, by means of ClickDetective’s real-time click-through reports if you prefer.

- The ClickDetective Standard Alerts :

  • Level 1 Alert is deliberately bland - many return visitors will have come back to your site for quite valid reasons (such as wanting to buy something from you!) and they will not be deterred by the fact that you are aware of them.
  • Level 2 Alert lets the visitor know that the link is a monitored link and subject to access restrictions.
  • Level 3 Alert presents an "Access Denied From This Location" message (but allows the visitor to cut-and-paste the URL of the landing page directly into their browser’s address bar).

- Pricing Plan

  • CD Standard : $49 per month for up to 2,000 clickthroughs;
  • CD Corporate : $79 per month for up to 10,000 clickthroughs;
  • CD Enterprise : for larger accounts and unlimited numbers of clickthroughs and requires contact with the company.
